Week of 10/6/2025

On 10/10/2025 at 13:27 FMPD, FMFD, and LCAS responded to the intersection of 18^th Street and Avenue F to a report of a male subject laying on the sidewalk in and out of consciousness. Jacob Gesualdo, age 39 of Fort Madison, was charged with Public Intoxication.

On 10/10/2025 at 15:54 FMPD was at 1805 Avenue J to take a report of an assault that occurred earlier in the day. While investigating, officers learned that Joanne Hanssen, age 30 of Fort Madison, had an active warrant for her arrest out of Lee County for failure to appear on the original charge of Driving Under Suspended. She was placed under arrest.

On 10/10/2025 at 10:43 p.m. Officers with the Fort Madison Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Shelia Hull, age 53, of Fort Madison, in the 2800 block of Avenue A for Driving While Revoked. Hull was arrested.

On 10/11/2025 at 1:20 a.m. Officers with the Fort Madison Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Brandy Bowen, age 44, of Fort Madison, at the intersection of 28th Street and Avenue N. Bowen was cited and released for Driving Under Suspension.

On 10/11/2025 at 2:21 a.m. Officers with the Fort Madison Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Piper Jaqua, age 39, of Fort Madison, in the 300 block of 15th Street for Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign. During the stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana. Jaqua was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was transported to the Lee County Jail and held.

On 10/11/2025 at 12:59, Shannon Gorham, age 36 of Fort Madison, was located at 5836 Avenue O #122 and placed under arrest for having an active warrant. She was taken to Lee County Jail without incident.

On 10/11/2025 at 7:50 p.m. Officers with the Fort Madison Police came into contact in the 1200 Block of 26^th Street with Joseph Decker, age 34 of Fort Madison and arrested him on his outstanding warrants for Theft 4^th . He was held at Lee County Jail.

On 10/12/2025 at 1536 hours FMPD officers responded to 1701 Avenue L in reference to a disturbance between neighbors about a property line. While investigating the incident it was found that Victoria Alsup, age 45 of Fort Madison, made threats to her neighbors. Victoria was taken into custody but resisted arrest. Victoria was taken to the Lee County Jail for Harassment 1^st Degree and Interference with Official Acts.

On 10/12/2025 at 1700 hours, Daniel Parsons was stopped on a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 48^th Street for speeding 40mph in a posted 25mph. He was taken into custody and released with a promise to appear for Driving While Barred. He was also issued a citation for speeding.

On 10/12/2025 at 1218 hours, FMPD took a theft report from Dollar General Market. The suspect, Gabriel Helmick, age 22 of Fort Madison, was located at 12^th Street and Avenue I. He was taken to the Lee County Jail for Theft 3^rd and/or Subsequent Offense.

On 10/12/2025 at 10:04 p.m. An Officer with the Fort Madison Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 6100 Block of Reves Court and arrested Taj Kite, age 36 of Fort Madison for Driving While Barred. He was held at Lee County Jail.

On 10/12/2025 at 10:52 p.m. Officers with the Fort Madison Police Department were dispatched to 1231 35^th Street for a report of an assault. After an investigation, Jeffrey Smith, age 58 of Washington Iowa was arrested for Willful Injury Assault. He was held at Lee County Jail.

A charge is merely an accusation and, a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
