The Fort Madison Police Department is seeking candidates to fill various positions. Are you the right person for us?

  • Looking for a first-time job in law enforcement? The Fort Madison Police Department is willing to hire the right person and provide training. Non-certified applicants will attend the four-month Iowa Law Enforcement Academy while receiving full-time pay!

 

  • Already a certified officer and looking to relocate to a new community? Pre-certified officers are eligible for lateral entry wage and benefits, plus a $10,000 sign-on bonus.

  • Patrol Base Wage: $48,011 - $57,364

Fort Madison Department has 21 sworn and 3 non-sworn positions. Ranks Include Patrol Officers, Sergeants, Captains, Detective, Detective Supervisor, and Chief of Police.

​

Non-ILEA-certified candidates will be required to complete a written test (POST) and a physical fitness test in Fort Madison to attain eligibility. All applicants must be able to carry a firearm, pass a background check, and possess a valid driver's license.
