ABOUT
The Fort Madison Police Department (FMPD) employs 21 full-time officers, 3 non-sworn positions. The department has officers involved with the Tactical Response Unit (TRU) and partners with the Fort Madison Community School District by providing a School Resource Officer (SRO). The department is also involved with the Neighborhood Watch and Crime Stoppers programs. We maintain a close working relationship with the Lee County Sheriff's Department, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa State Penitentiary, located in Fort Madison. The Fort Madison Police Department's goal is the time-tested motto "To Protect and Serve". The officers and support staff realize that our citizens deserve and expect a high degree of care and competency in all matters of police services.

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life by working cooperatively with the public and within the framework of the Constitution and all laws and ordinances to preserve peace and provide a safe environment equally, consistently, and professionally for all citizens of Fort Madison.
